THE BAIL-PSP CONCEPT

Beyond AI Learning – Post-School Pedagogy

A constructive, longitudinal, and adaptive approach to learning in which AI moderation strengthens the capacity of educators and learners to interpret learning evidence, understand development over time, and respond towards competence achievement.

01 · WHY BEYOND AI LEARNING?

AI should strengthen pedagogy, not replace it.

The growing presence of artificial intelligence in education expands what digital learning environments can analyse, interpret, and support. Yet learning remains a pedagogical process shaped by meaningful activity, reflection, interaction, guidance, and the development of competence over time.

BAIL-PSP therefore positions AI Moderation as a pedagogical principle: AI is used to strengthen learning analytics and interpretation while preserving the central role of educators as facilitators, motivators, and providers of adaptive pedagogical support.

Beyond AI Learning is not about placing AI at the centre of education. It is about placing learning at the centre and moderating AI around pedagogical purposes.
02 · THE CONCEPTUAL SHIFT

From Constructivism to Longitudinal Learning

Grounded in constructivism, BAIL-PSP views knowledge as actively constructed and continually revised through meaningful learning activity. It extends this view by treating construction not only as an event within a learning task, but as development that unfolds across time and can be interpreted through accumulated learning evidence.

03 · THE BAIL-PSP LEARNING PROCESS

From Learning Evidence to Competence Achievement

BAIL-PSP organises learning as a connected process in which evidence is interpreted at particular moments, accumulated across time, reflected upon by learners, and translated into adaptive pedagogical responses.

01

Learning Evidence

Evidence emerges from discussion, reflection, assessment, projects, practice, and other meaningful learning activities.

02

Momentary Interpretation

Evidence is interpreted to understand what a learner demonstrates at a particular moment or phase of learning.

03

Learning Growth

Evidence across time reveals patterns of progress, stability, acceleration, fluctuation, and emerging learning risk.

04

Self-Dialogic Learning

Learners engage with their own evidence, interpret progress, recognise gaps, and take a more active role in directing learning.

05

Adaptive Support

Interpreted evidence informs feedback and pedagogical intervention aligned with the learner's developing needs and competence.

04 · LEARNING ACROSS TIME

Learning is not only a score at one moment.

BAIL-PSP distinguishes a learner's present condition from the pattern of development that becomes visible across successive phases of learning. The emphasis shifts from asking only “How well is the learner performing now?” to also asking “How is the learner developing over time?”

05 · SELF-DIALOGIC LEARNING

Learners interpret their own development.

Reflection in BAIL-PSP goes beyond recalling what happened in a learning activity. A self-dialogic process enables learners to engage with evidence of their own learning, interpret their progress, recognise patterns and gaps, and use that understanding to guide subsequent action.

06 · THE ROLE OF AI

AI as an analytical and interpretive support.

Within BAIL-PSP, AI supports the analysis and interpretation of diverse learning evidence across time. It can help make patterns of learning growth, emerging risk, and support needs more visible, while pedagogical interpretation and action remain connected to educators and learners.

07 · THE ROLE OF THE EDUCATOR

Technology expands evidence. Educators sustain pedagogy.

BAIL-PSP does not reposition the educator outside the learning process. Instead, richer evidence and AI-assisted interpretation are intended to strengthen the educator's capacity to facilitate learning, interpret development, motivate learners, and provide timely adaptive support.
